Writing Prompt:
I am one of the lucky people who gets to be friends with the incomparable Laura Kelly Fanucci in our 40s. I was deeply moved by her poem and how it captured something beautiful and true.
Art inspires art. Use her stunning creation to reflect on the stage of life you are in. Allow her piece to remind you that writing doesn't require paragraphs or even sentences.
Body Break:
Our body posture is constantly communicating to other people and to ourselves. This week, when you are feeling closed off or stuck, take a quiet moment, close your eyes, and turn your palms up to the sky. Notice how that slight change in the shape of your body feels in your being. Can you re-enter your day with the energy of openness?
Breath Practice:
Alternate nostril breath: put your right thumb by your right nostril and your right ring finger and pinky by your left nostril. Tuck your second and third fingers toward your palm. Close your left nostril with your ring finger and inhale in your right nostril. Close your right nostril with your thumb and exhale through your left nostril. Inhale left. Switch. Exhale right. Inhale right. Switch. Exhale left. Inhale left. Switch. Continue. End on a right exhale.
Tiny Thing:
Mark time on your calendar later on in the week and do not fill it. When that time arrives, notice what you really want to do and do it, whether that "it" is something or nothing.
