1. Close your eyes and take a few conscious breaths. Allow the rest of your day to fall away. Feel your awareness arriving in your body and to your writing practice.
2. Notice how your body is feeling right now and attach a word to it.
3. Set a timer for seven minutes and free write about whatever comes up. If you need a prompt, write about a recent time that weather interrupted your plans. How did you feel and deal with life's detour?
4. Free write about a childhood memory you have involving weather and/or the threat of weather. For me, I think of a blizzard, and seeing people ski down the middle of my street. I think of the hunkering in the basement, my mom and aunt clearly on edge, during a tornado warning.
